Sources of Funds for Energy Education Programs
  • Parent Teacher Organizations. Funds from your school PTA can be used to bring our programs to your school, providing both a unique learning opportunity for the students and potential dollar savings for the school.

  • ESEA: Elementary and Secondary Education Act: grants for elementary and secondary school programs for children of low- income families, school library resources, textbooks and other constructional materials for school children. Go to www.ed.gov/about/overview/fed/10facts/index.html.

  • IDEA: Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Part B. Funding to support elementary and secondary school children with disabilities. Go to www.ed.gov/about/overview/fed/10facts/index.html.

  • NCLB: The No Child Left Behind Act. This is a reauthorization of ESEA. It provides funding for Title 1 Improving Teacher Quality Grants. Some of NCLB programs support education to improve math and science education. Go to www.ed.gov/about/overview/fed/10facts/index.html.

  • Title i: Improving America's Schools Act of 1994 (formerly Chapter 1). Funds to supplement local dollars to improve the education of economically or educationally disadvantaged children and help them meet the same standards as all children.   • Improving Teacher Quality Grants. Funds to provide professional develpment to improve teaching and learning. Our programs qualify because teachers are trained along with students, learning content and acquiring additional teaching skills. Go to www.ed.gov/about/overview/fed/10facts/index.html.

  • Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act. Grants to provide career and technical education to youth and adults. Go to www.ed.gov/about/overview/fed/10facts/index.html.

  • Title VI: Inovation Education Program Stratagies (formerly Chapter 2). Funds for activities that encourage school reform and innovation in education. Go to www.ed.gov/about/overview/fed/10facts/index.html.

  • School-to-Work supports educational programs and initiatives that teach job -related skills and provide opportunities for career exploration. Our programs qualify because they teach many job-related skills and give students a view of careers in engineering, architecture, building maintenance, construction and energy management.

  • Learn & Serve America provides funding for our programs that connect services and education. Our programs qualify because participants apply their learning to real energy problems in their school, resulting in serrvice to the community in the form of lower taxes and improved decision-making on erergy issues.

  • Local Energy Companies. In many areas of the country, local electric, gas and oil companies are interested in supporting our programs, because it helps their customers control their own energy bills. It saves tax dollars (energy companies pay taxes too), it improves the technical skills of future employees and sponsorship of these programs enhances their image.

  • State Energy Offices. Many state energy offices provide funds in support of our prorgrams, because they enhance their own efforts to conserve energy. It positions participating schools to access federal funds for energy conservation projects and it saves dollars that remain within the state.

  • NEA Grants. The NEA Foundation for the Improvement of Education (NFIE) now offers grants on a year-round basis. The NEA Foundation grants fund classroom innovations or professional development that improve teaching and learning in public schools.
